A win can happen in so many places besides the baseball field. Let me explain! Bobby Bowden, the long time Head Football Coach at Florida State University said this of John Wooden, the long time Head Basketball Coach at UCLA, "Coach Wooden is the 'winningest' coach I have ever known." Coach Bowden was referring to wins that Coach Wooden notched both on and off of the court. Coach Wooden had MORE than his fair share of basketball wins, but he also won in every area of his life. Get a load of this ...

... Every time a heart turned from the darkness of sin to the light of Jesus because of Wooden's influence, Wooden notched a win. Every time temptation came to the program and Wooden stood to fight for Godly morals and values, Wooden notched a win. Every time Wooden showed a player how to serve and not be served, Wooden notched a win. Every time Wooden displayed to Los Angeles that he was willing to pray because he was weak, knowing that God was strong, Wooden notched a win. Every time Wooden made the choice to stand upon the word during the ups and downs of each basketball season, Wooden notched a win.

My guess is this. Some where on Wooden's desk, you could find this Bible verse displayed for all to see, "In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven." (Matthew 5:16)

Our goal for Tiger Baseball Nation is to win on and off of the baseball field.
