#6 Tigers Take Down ABU

After falling to Arlington three times last year, including a 75-73 loss in the 2019 ACCA National Championship game. The Tigers came out to exact a small piece of revenge, but after a slow start found themselves down 8-2 inside the first three minutes. After a D'Andre Butler 3 pointer to tie the game at 10-10 at the 15:00 minute mark. Both teams traded baskets over the next eight minute of game time, before a Stefan Tellis layup, and a quick steal before finding a cutting DeMarkiyo DeVoil for the lay-in allowing the Tigers to get some momentum and stretch the lead out to 44-34 with 2:24 left in the first half. The Patriots answered with a quick mini run to close the half down six.

 The start of the second half was much of the same, with the teams trading baskets the first eight minutes. Before the Tigers ratcheted up the defense forcing the Patriots into 5 turnovers in two and a half minutes to stretch the lead to 73-56 with 9:45 left. The lead stayed between 15-18 over the next four minutes of action. The Tigers were able to withstand one last push from Arlington, who closed it to 87-78 with :45 seconds left on the clock. Cory Griggs was able to close it out from the free throw line, sealing the 92-78 victory.

The Tigers were led by D'Andre Butler who finished with 20 points on 7-11 shooting, 3 rebounds and 5 assists. Stefan Tellis chipped in with 17 points, Kentrell Jacobs add 16 points on 4-7 from 3. Tra Mallard led the Patriots with 18 points.
