Top Seeded Tigers Advance

The top seeded Tigers got off to a slow start against the 8th seeded Bears of Barclay College. The match-up saw the teams face-off for the second time in 7 days. 

Champion controlled the pace for the entire first half, forcing 14 turnovers and scoring 20 points in transition, highlighted by a Derek Guinn to Kentrell Jacobs alley-oop with 2 seconds left in the half. Leading to a 60-47 halftime lead for the Tigers. 

Barclay came out of the halftime break on a mission, cutting the deficit to 7 with 13:00 minutes remaining. After a timeout, the Tigers locked in defensively wrecking havoc with the press and forcing the Bears into quick rushed shots. Allowing Champion to run away and hide with a 118-88 victory. 

Senior captain Stefan Tellis lead all scorers with 26 points, grabbed 8 rebounds and dished out 4 assists. Derrick Guinn came of the bench to add 22 points and 9 rebounds. Kentrell Jacobs chipped in 14 points, 8 rebounds and 3 monster dunks.
