Champion Defeats NAIA Arkansas Baptist

Little Rock, Ark.

The Champion Christian Tigers were given a shot at redemption against NAIA Arkansas Baptist College, after losing the first game of the year this season to the Buffaloes, and the Tigers did not disappoint. A big 82-66 win was to show for it, especially impressive being that the game was played in such as tough of an environment to win a game as Arkansas Baptist College Gym.

In the opening minutes of the game, the Buffaloes were hitting, and the Tigers were struggling. The gym was rocking, and a quick 10-4 lead had everyone going. Senior Braylon Hawkins had an answer though, scoring 6 straight. Braylon scoring would be a common theme for the night, as he would dominate the game with 32 points. A big dunk and layup by Xavier Hall and AJ Williams got the Tigers back in control, taking a 1 point lead. From there, the lead didn't stop growing. Champion had an answer for every bucket ABC scored, continuing the domination and pushing the lead all the way to 17. 4 straight to end the half for KJ Corder, who also had a monster game, sent the Tigers into the half up 15. KJ had 17 massive 1st half points, and Braylon Hawkins led the way with 18 points in the first half alone.

The second half was a much more back and forth affair. Champion was never able to get the lead over 18, and Arkansas Baptist made runs, but never could get it under 8. Braylon continued to dominate the game, scoring 14 in the half, with Xavier Hall adding 9 in the half, including some big dunks. AJ Williams had a monster dunk of his own as well. The Tigers would end up winning the game by 16, walking away with a 82-68 win.

Some Notable Performances From Tonight's Game:

Braylon Hawkins finished with 32 points and 13 rebounds, shooting 67% from the field

KJ Corder flirted with a double double, scoring 20 and grabbing 9 rebounds

Xavier Hall finished with 12 points
