Lady Tigers take #1 to Brink

Hot Springs, Ark.

The Lady Tigers opened conference plays last night, as they welcomed #1, five time defending National Champions, Arlington Baptist. After a layup by Destiny Gonzalez the Lady Tigers jumped out to a early 9-2 lead inside the first two minutes of the game. Arlington then followed with a run of their own to lead after the first quarter 18-14. 

With both teams trading baskets throughout most of the second quarter. Arlington, led by point guard Aaliyah Clark(27 points), was able to string together stops, while knocking down three point shots. stretching the lead out to 41-29 at the half. 

After the break it was much of the same from the nation's #1 team, stretching the lead out to 20 points (69-49) with under a minute left in the third quarter. The Lady Tigers were able to get some momentum from a Lucy Parson 3 pointer as the third quarter buzzer sounded. 

Coming out to start the fourth quarter, it was a different Lady Tigers team. Stringing together multiple stops, and Lucy Parson hitting big 3 point shots. Cutting it down to a four point game with 3:34 left in the game. With both teams trading buckets, and the Lady Tigers forced to foul, Arlington was forced to try and close it out from the free throw line. Thanks to some key free throw misses from the Patriots. Champion was able to cut the lead to 2, with 8 seconds left and the ball. After a few fouls to waste time, by the Patriots, Lucy Parson (23 points, 7-14 from 3) game winning three point shot came up a little short and the #1 ranked Patriots were able to escape with a 77-75 win.
