Manning Sets School Record in Win

The Lady Tigers played host to the visiting Lady Falcons of Kansas Christian College. The first quarter was full of action and excitement, with both teams pushing the ball in transition ending with the score 20-17 Kansas Christian. 

Quaneisha Davis hit a three to start the quarter to put the Lady Falcons up 6, but the host responded quickly and took a 26-25 lead by the 7:00 mark of the quarter and never looked back. Turning up the defensive pressure holding Kansas Christian to 3 points the rest of the quarter, while forcing 15 first half turnovers leading to a 37-28 lead at the half. 

The third quarter brought much of the same for the Lady Tigers, forcing turnovers and scoring in transition. Tamaria Manning caused all kinds of havoc for the visiting Lady Falcons, getting her hands on every lose ball and jumping passing lanes leading to a school record 9 steals. In the half court Coach Ellison decided to pound the ball inside to the nations leading scorer, Destiny Gonzalez 27 ppg, forcing the defense to collapse  and opening up lanes for the wings to dive to the rim. Leading the Lady Tigers to 27 point third quarter, extending the lead to 64-41 Champion.

After a foul laden start to the fourth quarter, with KCC shooting the bonus inside the first 2:30 minutes. The lead had shrunk to 15 with 2:22 left in the game, before Champion was able to string together multiple stops, and convert on more KCC turnovers. The Tigers moved to 1-1 in conference play with the 77-56 victory.

Destiny Gonzalez lead all scores with 29 points, adding 8 reb, 4 reb and 2 blocks. Tamaria Manning add 19 points, 5 reb, 5 ast and a school record 9 steals to pace the Lady Tigers. Queneisha Davis lead with 20 points, Monique Hunt added 17 points while grabbing 18 reb. 

The Lady Tigers return to action next Thursday, December 12th as they host the Knights of Southwestern Adventist University at 5:30pm.
