Your Lady Tigers Clutch Season's First Away Game Win

Texarkana, Texas

The Tigers finished 93-79 Tuesday night versus the Texarkana Lady Eagles bringing Champion's Lady Tiger Season Record to 3-1 (including exhibition games). Tuesday night's game was a brawl between the two schools in an unspoken rivalry made from prior seasons, 2019-20 and 2020-21, between the Lady Tigers and the Lady Eagles. Texarkana took a 2019-20 win and Champion took the 2020-21 win. This evening both teams looked to top the tie.

From the beginning of the sound of the horn, the game was full of energy, hustle, and intensity between both teams. The Lady Tigers started off the game with 4 turnovers and an 8-0 run due to the Lady Eagles' full court pressure defense. By the end of the 1st quarter, the Lady Eagles put a lot of pressure on the Tigers- giving them the lead 22-21. The second quarter, however, the Lady Tigers, got more comfortable and outlasted- taking the lead at half 40-38. Our defending NCCAA National Champs topped the Lady Eagles, breaking the1-1 tie between the two, making it Champion 2-1 against TAMTU.

Aaliyiah Clark led with 20 points, shooting 7-11 in the field, 3-4 from the 3, and 3-6 from the charity stripe. Rebecca Farmer and Destiny Gonzalez followed with 14 points each, and Gonzalez with 17 rebounds, Farmer with 6 rebounds. Alysia Pickett and Sckiya Banister added 13 points each; Picket with 6 assists and 2 steals, Banister with 5 assists, 3 steals, and 3-3 from the foul line.

Our Lady Tigers will be back in action in an exhibition game Saturday, November 13, 2021, against Tarleton State University.
