Champion Classic: A Captivating Weekend of Basketball

no
Hot Springs, Ark.

The first annual Champion Classic finished up this weekend, as we witnessed some great basketball all Friday and Saturday. The Classic saw teams from all over come and compete in the regular season kick off for the Men and Women’s Champion Christian College Tigers. Men's and Women's teams from Randall University (Oklahoma), Ecclesia College Men's program (Arkansas), Bacone College Women's team (Oklahoma), and the Men and Women's programs from Campbellsville University - Harrodsburg (Kentucky) made the trip to Hot Springs, Arkansas for some early season games.

The spectators at the Champion Classic had the treat to see two early games between the visiting schools, and ended the night with the main event as the Champion Men and Women Tigers played double headers Friday and Saturday night.

Friday night was especially noteworthy for the Lady Tigers, as they started the year looking back on their National Championship Campaign in the 2020-2021 season. With the unveiling of the NCCAA National Championship banner, as well as a ring ceremony for the Lady Tigers, it was a great way to start the new year.

The Champion Christian College Men’s program got off to a quick start, but ran out of gas against Ecclesia College, losing 94-72. They were able to bounce back on Saturday and end the week on a positive note, defeating a tough Campbellsville University - Harrodsburg team in a nail biter, 74-73.

The Lady Tigers got off to a great start, going 2-0 after defeating Bacone College 84-52 Friday, and 70-54 Saturday against Campbellsville University - Harrodsburg.

Overall, the event was a great opportunity for all teams in attendance to get ready for the new season, and we are very grateful for all the teams, fans, and staff who made it possible. We can not wait for next year's event!
