Lady Tigers Start Region Play 1-0 Against DCC Crusaders

Hot Springs, Ark.

The Champion Christian College women's basketball team achieved their first region win this Friday evening against Dallas Christian College, 72-57.
 
Remaining first in the National Christian Collegiate Athletic Association Top 10 Poll from a week ago, CCC continued its good run of fortune with the third victory in regular season play and first win in region play. A 25-point first-quarter gave the Lady Tigers to a 25-9 lead against the Crusaders. This exciting first-quarter, gave the Lady Tigers what they needed to be in control from the get-go. DCC outscored the Tigers by one over the next three quarters, but the damage had been done.
 
The Lady Tigers shot 45 percent from the floor, shooting 30-for-66 and were 28 percent from three-point range. CCC also outrebounded DCC 46-39.
 
Dallas struggled shooting 17.4 percent from the three and were 21-for-65 in the field. Amber Covington and Makayla Washington were the top scorers for the Crusaders with Covington adding 12 points and Washington adding 11 points.
 
Elisa Gonzalez was the leader in points with 18 points on 8-for-11 shooting. She tied Destiny Gonzalez for the team-high on the glass was seven rebounds and was second in scoring with 15 points. Jurnee Hicks chimed in with 12 points on 5-of-5 field goals and 2-for-2 at the free throw line. Aaliyiah Clark added 11 points. Nay Manning and Alysia Pickett led in assists: Manning with 10 and Pickett with 6.
