Champion Christian stuns Oklahoma Christian

Edmond, Okla.

Our Lady Tigers, make history again, upsetting NCAA Division II Oklahoma Christian in the Lady Eagles' season opener exhibition game riding a 31-point performance from Aaliyah Clark to a 78-74 final score.

Oklahoma Christian only led during the first 70 seconds of the game. An early16-3 run by the Tigers put us in control and remained in that position most of the rest of the way. Bain fueled a 12-3 second-quarter run that pulled the Eagles even at 22-22, but Destiny Gonzalez (who scored 19 points to go with 10 rebounds) and Sckiya Banister each hit a 3-pointer as the Tigers answered with an 8-0 run leading 38-29 at halftime.

Champion Christian's lead peaked at 49-36 with 5:40 left in the third quarter on one of Clark's five 3-pointers. By the end of the third-quarter, the Lady Eagles clawed their way back into the game, bringing the score to 54-51 Tigers. The pressure was on going into the fourth-quarter.

The fourth-quarter was heated, the Lady Eagles got within 71-69 Tigers with 1:48 left, but Oklahoma Christian managed only two more baskets and the Tigers hit enough free throws – 6 of 10 – to hold on.

A 3-pointer by Bradley with 8.7 seconds left pulled Lady Eagles within 76-74 and Alysia Pickett made 1 of 2 free throws at the other end with 7.7 seconds left, giving the Eagles a final chance, but missed a 3-point attempt and Clark rebounded for Champion and was fouled. She sealed the game, given a two-shot free-throw opportunity with 1.5 seconds left to seal the win.

Congratulations to the Lady Tigers for their Exhibition DII NCAA win. The next game will be on the road at another Exhibition game against Ouachita Baptist this upcoming Tuesday, Nov. 23 at 5:30.
