A Tough Win on the Road for the Lady Tigers

Gallatin, Tenn.

Monday morning, Champion’s Lady Tigers traveled a little over 6 hours to play Welch College: a cross region match up. The Lady Tigers started the game slightly slow with a short warm up but definitely came with some fight to battle against the scrappy Lady Flames. The Tigers held Welch to 15 points in the first quarter and just 11 points in the second, giving Champion a 12 point lead at half: scoring 20 points in the first quarter and 18 points in the second.

Going into the third quarter, the Lady Tigers struggled immensely with defense. The Lady Flames saw only the net going 5-5 from the 3PT and 10-16 from the field: outscoring Champion 29 to 19 for the quarter. This momentum allowed the Lady Flames to take their largest lead at 3 points at around the 7 minute mark. The Lady Tigers fought back bucket to bucket with Welch up to the final minutes of the game. Returner Aaliyiah Clark led the Tigers going 10-16 with 22 points and 7 rebounds.

Kamryn Gentry dominated the boards with 20 in total and 18 points- completing another double-double for the night. Alysia Pickett added 13 points.

The Lady Tigers will finish the break playing Kansas Christian College Thursday, December 15.
