Lady Tigers Top KCC Lady Falcons Before Break

Overland Park, Kan.

 

The Lady Tigers topped the Kansas Christian College Falcons Thursday, December 15 at KCC- 71-51.

The start of the game was full of intensity with both teams exchanging buckets and being locked in on defense. Champion had a 6 point lead by the end of the 1st quarter: 18 to 12, but quickly took control of the game going into the 2nd quarter. The Lady Tigers amped up the aggressiveness on both ends of the court outscoring the Lady Falcons 26 to 17 in the 2nd quarter- finishing the half 44 to 29.

Coming into the 3rd quarter, Champion’s strong defense held KCC to just 7 points and scored 20 against the Falcon’s efforts on defense. Going into the 4th quarter the Lady Tigers could not buy a bucket, only scoring 7 points in the final quarter. The Lady Tigers’ early efforts helped keep the game sealed by the final buzzer by 20.

Champion had 5 Lady Tigers in double digits, 17 assists and 10 steals achieved as a team, and forced 20 turnovers from the Lady Falcons. Both Tori Hayes and Justys Irish-Holmes lead with 13 points.  Alysia Pickett and Kamryn Gentry added 11 points each along with Gentry’s 18 rebounds for double-double. Aaliyiah Clark chimed in with 10 points and led in assists with 6 on the night.
