Jet Lag Can't Stop The Lady Tigers

Champion’s Lady Tigers went into the new year with another conference dub shortly after an NCAA DII win. 

Conference competitor Southwestern Adventist University hosted Champion Thursday night. SWAU only led for about a minute within 3 minutes of the 1st quarter. An early 15-0 run by the Tigers put us in control for the remainder of the game. Kamryn Gentry fueled an 11-6 second-quarter run that pulled the Lady Tigers to a lead: 31-16. Going into half, the CCC led 33 to 18. 

After getting off of flights late into the night before from Hawaii and dealing with a 4 hour time zone change, the Lady Tigers were still able to bring the heat against Southwestern Adventist. By the end of the 3rd quarter, every Lady Tiger saw the floor and kept the lead: 59-34. 

With great efforts from every Lady Tiger, Champion finished the game 90 to 46. With 5 Lady Tigers in double digits on the night, Champion’s Kamryn Gentry broke a school record of 32 rebounds. With her 32 rebounds, she was the 2nd leading scorer at 17 points along with 3 blocks- playing less than 30 minutes. Aaliyiah Clark led the Lady Tigers with 18 points along with 7 rebounds. Both Tori Hayes and Justys Irish-Holmes added 12 points: Hayes with 6 rebounds and Irish-Holmes with 4 assists on the night. Reserve Jaylen Edmonson also added 12 points to the Lady Tiger victory.
